Flying training has been established at East Midlands Airport for over 30 years and East Midlands Flying School carries on the traditions started in the ninteen sixties.
Special emphasis is placed on not only the flying training but the all  important Ground School training.For example, it is estimated that to cover the syllabus comprehensively, less than one third of each
Private Pilot course is devoted to actual flight training, the remainder  of the training is being devoted to ground training.

As all our training is conducted from our own premises, our class rooms are fully equiped for lectures, flight planning and briefings, and may also be used by students for study. Being situated at a major  Airport has it's advantages in the facilities provided are second to none, in  addition too which we have access to the all the latest flight and weather information.
The Airport is also fully equiped for Instrument training with ILS, NDB and DME procedures.

In fact we are one of the few  British organisations specialising in  a one to one student/instructor teaching technique. We find that this not only achieves a higher standard in a shorter time, while
allowing for greater continuity throughout the training course, but also the overall end result is a more competent and confident
pilot.

        So You Want To Learn To Fly

Over the years it has been our priviledge to  train  students from many different walks of life; from teenagers to senior citizens. Rarely do we find a new student completely lacking in the aptitude required to pass the Private Pilots Licence Course.

If you have enough co-ordination to drive a car ( preferably non-automatic) then you should have no problems handling a small aircraft.
The only common background for our students is reasonable common sense, a willingness to learn and  the ability to pass the statutory    medical  examination, if your in doubt about your abilities then try one of our Trial Lessons.
